Dr. Margriet van Hek
Margriet van Hek is a postdoctoral researcher at the Sociology department of Utrecht University and the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS). In her postdoc project “Do women in the top matter?” she studies the impact of female leadership on social inequalities in public and private organizations, and in public administration. She obtained her PhD degree (2017) in sociology at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. In her doctoral thesis “Gender inequality in educational attainment and reading performance: a contextual approach” she studied how family, school and societal contexts relate to gender inequalities in academic success. Her main research interests comprise educational and labor market inequalities, gender issues, and cultural tastes and lifestyles.
