Margaretha Bäck-Wiklund is our research partner in Sweden.
Margartha is Professor Emerita in Social Work and Family Policy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She has long experience of family research and created the research program Parenting and Childhood in Modern Family Culture. Variations in family forms and childhoods, gender and parental roles in family life, working life as well as everyday life is the core if the research. Among the completed projects in the program three can be mentioned: Sharing Your Parents with A Foster Sibling. An Investigation of Foster Parents Own Children, Male Role Models in Social Work with Single Mothers and Sons and To start a family and earnings - a comparison between groups with different ethnic background. These are funded by the Swedish Research Council for Working Life and Social Sciences (FAS). Margartha has been the Swedish coordinator in two EU funded projects. One eight country comparative project in the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Commission Gender, Parenthood and the Changing European Workplace: Young adults negotiating the work-family boundary and the eight country EU-funded project within the Sixth Framework Programme Quality of Life in a Changing Europe.
